Configuring your router and computer so that they are in the same subnet If the IP Address and Subnet Mask of your computer and router are not
in the same subnet, you will receive this message when you start the
Apex Manager. To configure your PC and router to be in the same subnet, the first three numbers separated by periods of the IP addresses must be the same, and all four numbers separated by periods must be the same for the Subnet Mask. If your computer's TCP/IP settings are correct, select Reset the router to an unconfigured router. If your router's settings are correct, Change your computer's TCP/IP settings. Reset the router to an unconfigured router In Static Mode Note: For this example, we specified that the router's IP address was 207.200.100.1. Actually you can specify 207.200.100.X, where X is any number from 1 to 126, except 2 since that IP address was assigned to your computer. Refer to the Subnet Mask Table for further information. In IP Master Mode Change your computer's TCP/IP settings Specify an IP Address For Windows 95: From the Configuration tab in Network, select TCP (for Ethernet adapters) listed under Network Components > Properties > IP Address > Specify an IP Address> enter the IP Address and Subnet Mask > OK. For Windows NT 4.0: From the Protocols tab in Network, select TCP (for Ethernet adapters) listed under Network Protocols > Properties > IP Address > Specify an IP Address> enter the IP Address and Subnet Mask > OK. For example, if your router's IP address is 207.200.100.1 and Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.128, change the computer's IP Address to 207.200.100.2 and Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.128. Note: For this example, we specified that the computer's IP address was 207.200.100.2. Actually you can specify 207.200.100.X, where X is any number from 2 to 126, which excludes 1 since that IP address was assigned to your router. Refer to the Subnet Mask Table for further information. Obtain an IP Address Automatically If your router's settings are correct, Change your computer's TCP/IP settings. Select "Change your computer's TCP/IP settings" and click "Next." This will automatically open the Network window in Windows. For Windows 95: From the Configuration tab in Network, select TCP (for Ethernet adapters) listed under Network Components > Properties > IP Address > Obtain an IP Address Automatically > OK. For Windows NT 4.0 From the Protocols tab in Network, select TCP (for Ethernet adapters) listed under Network Protocols > Properties > IP Address > Obtain an IP Address from DHCP server > OK. |
