Primary & Secondary IP
Utilize both primary and secondary IP addresses in EZRider router to
separate LAN into 2 subnets

Assumption
Use EZRider window GUI manager for configuration
The number of legal IP address is not enough for every station on the
LAN
All stations want to be able to get on the Internet
Primary IP address will be used as gateway for subnet with legal IP
addresses
Secondary IP address will be used as gateway for subnet with virtual
IP address
DHCP function is used for virtual IP assignment
Legal IP address will be assigned statically
Key Configuration
1. From EZRider manager > Configuration > LAN configuration
2. Enter Primary IP and Secondary IP for the router.
3. Apex manager > Advance > LAN configuration > DHCP
IP Address Assignment.
4. Select Enable DHCP On Secondary IP Address
5. Reserve any virtual IP which can't be used for DHCP assignment
if desired
6. Hit Apply and then Finish to save configuration into router.
- Win 95/98 Configuration
- Legal IP assignment
1. For station that uses legal IP enter its TCP/IP configuration
manually.
2. From Windows Start > Settings > Control Panels >
double click on Network
3. From the Configuration tab, select TCP/IP (for Ethernet
adapters) listed under Network Components and then click Properties.
4. Select the IP Address tab.
5. To enable static addressing, click Specify an IP address
and then type the IP address and Subnet Mask for your PC.
6. Click the Gateway tab.
7. Type in your Gateway IP Address (the IP address for the
Apex 1100) from your ISP and then click Add.
8. Click the DNS tab. Enter the Host name, Domain name, and
DNS Service Search Order for you're the subnet and then click Add.
9. Click OK to exit TCP/IP Properties window and click OK
to exit Network.
10. When prompted, restart Windows 95/98. If you are not
prompted to restart Windows 95/98, please do so manually.
- Virtual IP assignment
1. From Windows Start > Settings > Control Panel >
Double click network icon > TCP/IP (for Ethernet adapters) > Properties
2. Select the IP Address tab
3. To enable dynamic addressing, click Obtain an IP Address automatically
4. Click the DNS Configuration tab and select Disable DNS. If
you previously entered any parameters, clear all pre-existing settings.
5. Select the Gateway tab and then click Remove to clear all pre-existing
settings.
6. Click OK to exit TCP/IP Properties window and click OK to exit
Network window. When prompted, restart Win 95/98. If you are not prompted
to restart Win 95/98, do so manually.
* If specially required by your ISP, you may need to enter DNS information
- Win NT machines
- Legal IP Address Assignment
1. From Windows Start > Settings > Control Panel >
Protocols tab > TCP/IP (for ethernet adapter) > Properties >
IP address tab
2. To enable static addressing, click Specify An IP Address and
then type the IP Address and Subnet Mast for your PC.
3. Click the DNS tab. Enter the Host name, Domain name, and DNS
Service Search Order for the subnet.
4. Click OK to exit Network Properties window.
5. When prompted, restart Windows NT. If you are not prompted
to restart Windows NT, please do so manually.
- Virtual IP Address Assignment
1. Windows Start > Settings > Control Panel > Protocols
tab > TCP/IP (for ethernet adapters) > Properties > IP address
tab
2. Click Obtain an IP Address from DHCP Server
3. Click the DNS tab and select Disable DNS. If you previously
entered any parameters, clear all pre-existing settings.
4. Click OK to exit Network Properties window. When prompted,
restart Win NT. If you are not prompted to restart, do so manually.
