Front Panel LEDs
This document discusses the activities of the
three major LEDs, DIAG, ISDN ACT, ISDN LN, on the front panel of the
Apex 1100 router under different stages.
1. Booting Up the Router
- DIAG LED: When the Apex 1100 is powered on, the green LED will flash
for about 10 to 15 seconds while rebooting and then turn off.
- ISDN ACT LED: Off.
- ISDN LN LED: Off.
2. No ISDN line is connected to the router, or the line is not activated.
- DIAG LED: Off
- ISDN ACT LED: Off
- ISDN LN LED: Blinking at a loop of "fast (about 5 times/sec
frequency) for 1.5 sec > stop for 0.5 sec >fast for 1.5 sec
>stop for 0.5 sec...
3. Attached ISDN line is good, but SPIDs have not yet be registered
successfully
- DIAG LED: Off
- ISDN ACT LED: Blinking randomly. The router will try to register
the SPIDs, and the ISDN ACT LED is having some activities since it
is trying to talk to the switch at the phone company's Central Office.
- ISDN LN LED: Blinking slowly at about twice/sec frequency.
4. Attached ISDN line is good, and SPIDs have been registered successfully
- DIAG LED: Blinking slowly at about once/sec frequency.
- ISDN ACT LED: 2 fast blinks every 15 seconds. The fast blinks are
"keep-alive" message sending to phone company's Central
Office.
- ISDN LN LED: Blinking slowly at about twice/sec frequency.
5. When making ISDN data calls
- DIAG LED: Blinking slowly at about once/sec frequency.
- ISDN ACT LED: Blinking randomly.
- ISDN LN LED: Blinking slowly at about twice/sec frequency.
6. When ISDN data session remains
- DIAG LED: Blinking slowly at about once/sec frequency.
- ISDN ACT LED: Blinking randomly depends on traffic volume. If the
traffic is really heavy such as downloading file, the LED stays solid.
- ISDN LN LED: Blinking slowly at about twice/sec frequency.
