EZ Rider DHCP Server

The EZRider router has a DHCP server built in. By enabling this server function, stations on the LAN will receive IP addresses, subnet masks, and related information from the EZRider router upon request.



Assumption

Use EZRider window GUI for configuration
Router's DHCP function has been enabled
Router's LAN configuration has utilize both primary and secondary IP address
Stations on LAN has its IP address obtained dynamically

Configuration

  • Router configuration

    1. From the EZRider manager > Configuration > LAN configuration > DHCP.
    2. Uncheck Disable DHCP IP Address Assignment if it's selected.
    3. Choose which subnet, primary or secondary to apply DHCP function.
    4. Enter desired lease time.
    5. Hit Apply and then Finish to save configuration to router.
  • Win95/98 configuration

    1. From Windows go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Double click network icon > TCP/IP (for Ethernet adapters) > Properties.
    2. Select the IP Address tab.
    3. To enable dynamic addressing, click Obtain an IP Address automatically.
    4. Click the DNS Configuration tab and select Disable DNS. If you previously entered any parameters, clear all pre-existing settings.
    5. Select the Gateway tab and then click Remove to clear all pre-existing settings.
    6. Click OK to exit TCP/IP Properties window and click OK to exit Network window. When prompted, restart Win 95/98. If you are not prompted to restart Win 95/98, do so manually.

* If specially required by your ISP, you may need to enter DNS information

  • Win NT machines

    1. From Windows go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Protocols tab > TCP/IP (for ethernet adapters) > Properties > IP address tab.
    2. Click Obtain an IP Address from DHCP Server.
    3. Click the DNS tab and select Disable DNS. If you previously entered any parameters, clear all pre-existing settings.
    4. Click OK to exit Network Properties window. When prompted, restart Win NT. If you are not prompted to restart, do so manually.
