It has the flexibility to prioritize traffic according to specific protocol, source/destination IP address, or port number. All IP packets will be placed in two different queues: high-priority and normal priority. This ensures that important traffic gets preferred treatment. For example, "Voice over IP" traffic needs to be forwarded first and as quick as possible to reduce voice signal delay. This means that in most cases bandwidth can be tailored proportionally among all network traffic.
