ARESCOM Lands Major Contract with Cable & Wireless HKT to Provide ATM Bridge and Router Equipment for Cable & Wireless HKT's Digital Broadband Networks Service.

FREMONT, California, February 8, 2000 -- ARESCOM, Inc., announced today that it has signed a major agreement with Cable & Wireless HKT to provide broadband ATM25 Bridge and Router equipment for Cable & Wireless HKT's Digital Broadband Network Service in Hong Kong.

ARESCOM's ATM25 Bridge is a stand-alone unit, for installation into each subscriber's home or office to receive Broadband Internet Service. The ATM25 Bridge/Router CPE provides each household a private and dedicated network, raising the speed of technology to new heights. In addition, the point-to-point connection of this broadband network ensures that information is sent and arrives in utmost security. The ATM25 Bridge/Router CPE will be supporting Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) and Point-to-Point Protocol over ATM (PPPoA) applications for Cable & Wireless HKT. In addition to the ATM25 Bridge and Router, ARESCOM will be providing Cable & Wireless HKT with an ADSL Bridge and Router.

The NetATM Bridge/Router CPE supplements our broadband ATM infrastructure and offers our customers the choice of 10BaseT interface for Mac, PC and notebook connection," said Carlson Chu, Manager of Networking and Technologies, Cable & Wireless HKT.

As part of this agreement, ARESCOM will provide its Layer-2 Remote Manager network management product to support Cable & Wireless HKT's rollout of services. With ARESCOM's Remote Manager, Cable & Wireless HKT will reduce the required support in installation, management and monitoring of the ATM25 Bridge/Router CPE. Remote Manager, the most comprehensive router configuration and management tool in the market today, dramatically increases flexibility, installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of ARESCOM's products, thus reducing 'truck roll'.
