Speed 802.11b Wi-Fi and Ethernet Internet Access at hundreds of
hotels
Broadband partnership to be spotlighted at Booth
428 of the Hospitality Industry Technology Exhibition & Conference
(HITEC), June 24-26 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in
New Orleans
FREMONT, CALIF. / REDWOOD SHORES, CALIF. — JUNE 23,
2003 — ARESCOM INC. and iPass Inc. have reached an
agreement to integrate the high-speed Wi-Fi and Ethernet Internet
Access at hundreds of hotels across the ARESCOM Hospitality Network
into the iPass Global Broadband Roaming service.
Redwood Shores-based iPass provides remote and mobile employees the ability
to access their enterprise networks through any of more than 18,000 access
points, including: 16,000 dial-up POPs, 1,500 Wi-Fi hotspots and 500+ Ethernet-enabled
venues. iPass integrates networks of more than 200 providers into an enterprise-ready,
policy-managed service for safe and simple connectivity in approximately 150
countries.
“ This network roaming agreement gives iPass the ability to integrate into
its virtual network the extensive ARESCOM Hospitality Network of broadband Internet-enabled
hotels, while providing ARESCOM’s hotel operators with a new corporate
service amenity for another competitive edge,” said Dave Egan, ARESCOM
Vice President of Marketing.
“ iPass’ new iPassConnectTM 3.0 service interface helps make Wi-Fi
connectivity as easy as dial-up for mobile employees needing fast and secure
access to their corporate networks," Egan said. “ARESCOM and iPass
each are both focused on services for business travelers, including secure wireless
high-speed Internet access. This strategic alliance is a ‘win-win’ for
both ARESCOM hotel customers and enterprises using the iPass Corporate Access
service. Once integration of the ARESOM network into the iPass service is complete,
our hotel partners will have another important business service to offer their
guests, and iPass customers will have more choices as to where they can use the
iPass service.”
“ iPass is focused on building a service for enterprise users, and hotels
are one of the most-important venues in our Global Broadband Roaming service," said
Jon Russo, vice president of marketing at iPass. "ARESCOM is an important
provider of wired and wireless connectivity in the hospitality space. This agreement
with ARESOM underscores iPass’ commitment to providing a wide variety of
Wi-Fi and Ethernet venue choices for our enterprise customers."
