ARESCOM Takes ADSL To The Next Level with Their
NetDSL 1800 Router-Hub. Power-packed with Features Including,
VPN, Auto-Rollover, and Remote Manager
FREMONT, California--February 5, 2000
- ARESCOM, Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of Broadband and
Remote Access products and technologies, announced today it has begun
shipping its NetDSL 1800 series ADSL PRO Router.
VPN
The feature-rich NetDSL 1800 series combines high-speed Internet access
with a variety of functions and capabilities, including its superior
management capabilities. One of the attractive features of the NetDSL
1800 series is the ability to create a Virtual Private Network(VPN).
The VPN function allows a secure connection with the remote site through
the Internet via IPSec. This enables a company to extend their corporate
network through private "tunnels" over the Internet. Using
a VPN involves encrypting data before sending it through the public
network and decrypting it at the receiving end. An additional level
of security involves encrypting not only the data, but also the originating
and receiving network addresses too. The NetDSL 1800 series router incorporates
L2TP tunneling, IP GRE, and IPSec with DES encryption.
The idea of the VPN is to give the company similar security capabilities
as a privately owned, or leased line, at a much lower cost by using
the public infrastructure. This enables the company to create their
VPN over extranets, wide area intranet and WANs. The settings for the
VPN feature are managed through a GUI and gives the user optimal control
of their personal settings. The VPN function can also be managed through
ARESCOM's Remote Manager, available on the 1800(A) model.
Auto-Rollover
Another of the outstanding features of the NetDSL 1800(A) model is the
built-in 56K analog modem that provides a unique "Auto-Rollover"
feature for redundancy. In case of an ADSL line failure, the
NetDSL 1800(A) will detect the connection loss and automatically bring
up the 56K analog connection immediately. Once the ADSL connection is
detected as "live" again, the 1800(A) will signal the 56K
analog connection to be dropped and the ADSL connection will be reestablished.
Remote Manager
ARESCOM's NetDSL 1800 series ADSL PRO Router can be managed and monitored
remotely from the Windows® based Remote Manager. The Remote
Manager is run through a pre configured ATM PVC or the 56k analog
modem in the 1800(A) model. The ease of use for this feature is an attractive
benefit for complex network systems. ARESCOM extends the NetDSL 1800's
extensive network management capabilities through the choice of: Windows®
based Manager, web browser, command line interface(console) or Telnet,
and SNMP.
Other Features: Security (MAC & IP Packet filtering, PAP, CHAP,
MS-CHAP)
Access Sharing (NAT/PAT)
WAN (PPPoE, PPPoA, AAL5,)
