ARESCOM Joins Lucent Technologies' Wired for DSL Interoperability Program

ARESCOM NetDSL DSL Routers and Modems certified to interoperate with Lucent DSL Solutions

FREMONT, California, June 21, 2000 -- ARESCOM, INC., a leading global provider of Internet and Broadband remote access solutions, announced today that it has joined Lucent Technologies' (NYSE: LU) Wired for DSL interoperability program.

This certification qualifies ARESCOM's digital subscriber line (DSL) products to work with Lucent's DSL solutions, including the Stinger™ DSL Access Concentrator. With this certification, ARESCOM continues to demonstrate the interoperability capabilities of its NetDSL modems and routers.

Under the Wired for DSL program, Lucent is partnering with leading vendors of DSL equipment to provide end-to-end, multivendor solutions to service providers. Lucent comprehensively tests and certifies third-party products to deliver more flexible and reliable DSL networks to customers. Since Lucent launched its Wired for DSL program in September of 1999, more than a dozen DSL equipment vendors have joined.

By securing interoperability between ARESCOM and Lucent, the Wired for DSL program streamlines the vendor evaluation process for service providers and their customers. Service providers using Lucent Technologies equipment can safely choose ARESCOM NetDSL products and ensure interoperability.

"Interoperability with a wide selection of leading DSL products is crucial for service providers who want a variety of product and services options in their networks," said John Kasha, director of DSL product strategy for Lucent's InterNetworking Systems, Next Generation Access division. "We're pleased that carriers who deploy Lucent DSL solutions, including Stinger, will be able to take advantage of ARESCOM'S broad and feature-rich NetDSL product line."

According to the latest reports from Dell'Oro Group and Synergy Research Group, Lucent is the market-share leader in symmetric DSL, with a rapidly emerging position in the overall DSL market. Lucent garnered the largest market share gain in DSL access concentrator (DSLAM) revenue, according to Dell'Oro Group, increasing its share by more than 60 percent over the previous quarter. Synergy Research Group figures also illustrate that Lucent had the largest gains in DSLAM revenue and port shipment markets in the first quarter of 2000.

ARESCOM continues to develop their full line of DSL modems and routers that come equipped with cutting-edge features at a cost effective price, giving ARESCOM a definitive advantage over their competitors and empowering the users with comprehensive DSL solutions for all their home and office needs.
